For IFA principals

A long-term home for the firm you’ve built.

A succession partner for established UK financial planning firms.

If you have built a quality financial planning business and are thinking of the next chapter — succession, partial capitalisation, or long-term partnership — Loyal North could be the right home. We acquire established regional firms and work with them over the long term — preserving brand, local identity and client relationships while providing the infrastructure to support continued growth.

Who we work with

Established firms. Principals thinking ahead.

Loyal North partners with established UK financial planning firms whose principals are thinking ahead. Some are planning to retire in the next two or three years and want to ensure their firm, and their clients, will be in safe hands. Others are looking further out, planning a longer transition over five years or more. Both approaches work for us.

What matters is fit. We work with firms we believe in — established regional businesses with quality client relationships, professional advice standards, and principals who care what happens to the firm after they step back.

What partnering means

What stays. What changes.

When a firm joins Loyal North, it retains its distinctive qualities. Business name continues. The brand, premises, team and local identity remain in place. Existing client relationships are preserved — clients retain the adviser they know and trust, often the principal themselves, with any client handovers carefully structured and at the principal’s own pace.

What changes is what sits behind the firm. Central group support — compliance oversight, modern technology, investment management, M&A and integration expertise, finance and governance — is immediately available to the firm. The principal continues to lead day-to-day; the group provides resources that no individual practice could source and afford alone.

What we bring

The resources of a national wealth platform.

  • Experienced central team

Senior leadership with backgrounds across the UK’s largest wealth platforms, institutional banks, and major financial services groups.

  • Compliance and governance oversight

Robust frameworks, regulatory oversight — freeing principals from the growing regulatory burden on small firms.

  • Modern technology

Access to our all-in-one advice and investment platform, available on the same terms offered to the wider UK market.

  • Institutional investment management

Access to institutional-level discretionary portfolio service, available alongside existing platforms and investment options already utilised by the firm.

  • M&A and integration expertise

A dedicated team with deep experience of integrating firms into a group structure, with established playbooks for everything from day-one continuity to longer-term harmonisation.

  • Group finance, capital and reporting

Institutional-quality financial discipline, transparent ownership, and the capital to support future growth plans.

Our approach

Long-term partnership.

Our acquisition structures are designed for partnerships. Every acquisition that Loyal North completes is structured to align the interests of the seller and the group over the long term.

When considering a partnership, we invest significant time in getting to know the advisory business, its people, clients and culture. At the same time, we work closely with the principals to develop a detailed post-completion plan, covering how the business will operate, how central resources and expertise will be deployed, and how clients and staff will benefit from becoming part of Loyal North.

This plan is agreed collaboratively with the sellers well in advance of completion, ensuring clarity, alignment and a smooth transition for all involved. Where appropriate, transitions are structured over time — sometimes years — allowing for the careful handover of client relationships, responsibilities and operations at a pace that suits the principals, the business and its clients.
